NCC

Both the YISSNational Cadet Corps (NCC) Boys’ and Girls’ units demonstrated excellence as they achieved the prestigious ‘Gold’ award for the Best Unit Competition (BUC) again in 2014.

YISS NCC continues to inspire and groom future leaders of Singapore through quality programmes that bring out the best in every student. The cadets were given the opportunities to travel overseas in order to broaden their horizons. Earlier in 2015, Secondary Three student, Qurratumaimanah Bte Abdul R traveled to Sussex in the United Kingdom for the NCC ICEP UK Sussex while Nuri Hafiqah Bte Mohamed Hazmi traveled to Germany for Exercise Panzerstrike. These overseas trips help to better develop the cadets’ leadership skills and allow them to gain more exposure to global developments while they expand their worldview.

YISS NCC continues to develop all levels and ranks in the Corps through active participation in various HQ NCC programmes. The cadets also tried their hands on a gaming competition called the (NEGC) by using an SAF gaming platform where they strategised and planned their mission in teams. They competed against participants from other schools in this competition. It was an insightful experience as cadets got to experience what our soldiers use to train for urban assault.

The YISS NCC Freestyle Drill Squad also did the Corps and the school proud by performing at the Bukit Batok East Citizens’ Consultative Committee (BBECCC) National Day Observance Ceremony 2015 in the presence of the Speaker of Parliament Mdm. Halimah Yaacob. The cadets choreographed, organised and executed the entire drill programme, demonstrating their leadership potential and talents.
