Secondary One Orientation Camp 2017

Yusof Ishak Secondary School held the annual Secondary One Orientation Camp between the 12th and 13th of January 2017.

On the first day, the Secondary One students learned about the school values comprising of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Integrity, Compassion and Confidence.

The Secondary One students also had a chance to know the school layout and facilities, as well as the surrounding neighbourhood area better through the camp. They also visited the Heritage Gallery, where they learnt about the history of the school and nation, which are closely intertwined.

The next day, students and teachers woke up early and prepared for the dragon-boating activity at Kallang. Coupled with good weather, the students enjoyed the activity tremendously. This was followed by a CCA Experience day in the evening where students got to find out more about the various CCAs available in the school.

In the evening, there was the Campfire, which was attended by some parents of the students as well. As our Principal, Mdm Jessie Koh declared the start of the campfire, the crowd witnessed the amazing sight of a fireball gliding down from the building before setting the campfire alight. Each class then did a wonderful job of showcasing their campfire items which they had thoughtfully prepared and eventually, Secondary 1/1 won the Challenge Shield. Our Vice Principal, Mr Melvin Kong, gave a closing address before the Orientation Camp ended on a high.
