Metacognition Seminar for Mathematics and English Language Teachers 2019

The Mathematics Chapter of the Academy of Singapore Teachers (AST), in collaboration with English Language Institute of Singapore (ELIS), National Institute of Education (NIE) and the Centre for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) @ Yusof Ishak Secondary School, will be hosting a Metacognition Seminar for Mathematics and English Language Teachers on 9 April 2019 (Tuesday). The seminar will be opened by Mrs Chua Yen Ching, DyDGE (PD) and ED (AST).

The seminar’s keynote address, “Operationalising Metacognition for Teaching & Learning”, will be delivered by Associate Professor Lee Ngan Hoe (NIE).  He will propose a model of how metacognition can be taught and learnt in the subject areas and discuss the implications for classroom instruction that supports the development of metacognition. He will also address some of the challenges in teacher professional learning about metacognition.

The concurrent sessions will focus on what metacognition involves and how it can be taught in the Mathematics and English Language classrooms.
