Education & Career Guidance

Education and Career Guidance (ECG) experiences equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills and values to make informed decisions at each key education stage for successful transition from school to further education or work. Students are then able to navigate and manage their career pathways and develop a spirit of lifelong learning throughout their lives. Examples of ECG experiences include Career Days, Learning Journeys to Post-Secondary Education Institutions (PSEIs) and/or industries, as well as ECG Fairs and Talks.

The goals of ECG are to support students in:

Discovering Purpose - Who am I? Nurture students' self-awareness to support them in discovering how they can meaningfully play a part in their community.
Exploring Opportunities - Where do I want to go? Develop students' self-directedness and confidence to explore and leverage education and career opportunities while respecting the value of all occupations.
Staying Relevant - How do I get there? Build students' adaptability and resilience to embrace the need for lifelong learning.

Level Learning Objectives

Sec 1	To gain deeper understanding of one’s values, interests, personality and skills (V.I.P.S.) To gain understanding of the sectors that can be found in the job market To gain awareness of options for post-secondary pathways
Sec 2	To gain deeper understanding of the skillsets required by different industries and hence identify the sectors they would like to explore further To make an informed decision on their Secondary 3 subject combination, taking into consideration the post-secondary pathways course of study and job prospects
Sec 3	To gain deeper understanding of the post-secondary pathways and respective learning environment To experience the sector of interest To be able to build their portfolio for application of Direct School Admissions (DSA) and Early Admissions Exercises (EAE)
Sec 4 / 5	To be equipped with skillsets such as resume writing and interview skills To prepare students for different post-Secondary pathways and admission channels (DSA, EAE, Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP))

ECG Counsellor

Our ECG Counsellor, Ms Lim Hui Ching, is available every Monday and Thursday to provide support to Yusoffians (individually or in small groups) in making informed decisions on post-secondary education and career options. Students who would like to explore more about subject choices, enquire about post-secondary education pathways or find out more about their career interests, strengths and passions, can book an appointment to have a chat with her.
